Post-Mission Debrief, Pre-Wedding Planning (Backpost)

1,550 words; about a 8 minute read

Mission: The Breen
Location: Jane and Alisha's Quarters
Timeline: After "Home Sweet 2397"

The crisis was over. The USS Myogi was back in its own year. They were home and they were safe.

For now, at least.

The ship was at warp toward its next destination, and Jane Sinclair's duty shift was finally over. So she headed back to the quarters she shared with Alisha, eager for a relaxing night in.

Alisha had gone through postflight and a critique by Mia after they'd landed on deck, then gone home and taken a long sonic shower. It had been her first actual mission in the cockpit, since it was just her and Mia now, and it had been as a second set of shields for the shuttle with the Iconians incoming. Sure, the other Myogi had taken the honor of rearguard, but knowing what could have happened was nerve wracking. She sat on their bed, staring at the floor, wondering if this would be normal for her.

Jane entered and smiled when she saw Alisha. “My shuttle guard,” she said, closing the distance to the bed and talking Alisha by the hands. “You already had a sonic shower? I should’ve been quicker, so I could join you.” She crouched down to look her in the eye. “Hey, are you alright?”

Alisha looked up with a smile, replaced by another brighter smile that just didn’t seem natural for the few seconds before, “I’m fine, really I am, I was just woolgathering a bit.” The bright smile faded suddenly, as if it had just been a mask, “I just..” Alisha exhaled deeply as she looked down for a brief instant, “First real ‘mission’, you know, sure we didn’t engage the Iconians, but aside from training flights and simulator missions, this was the first time when everything was real out there and I was in the cockpit.” She knew Jane would understand, given her experience racing out in the void.

“It feels different when it’s real, doesn’t it?” Jane asked. “Being out there in a small fighter-craft is incredibly brave, Alisha, and I mean it when I say I felt safer knowing you and Mia were out there providing cover.”

"I thought I - I mean, I was ready for this, it's just different than when I was making pickups for Intelligence and flying shuttles or fighters." Alisha said, "And I had to go, if something had happened to you while I just sat on the ship? Never mind that Mia needed someone on her wing and it looks like I'm it for now. I'm not bad, I'm passing my simulations, but I'm not in her league, that's for sure." She smiled slightly, "I'm just glad you're back safe."

“And I’m glad you’re back safe, luv,” Jane said, squeezing Alisha’s hand.

“I was thinking,” she continued as she pulled an off-duty top and skirt from her dresser and started getting out of her uniform, “we should do some engagement photos. For our families, but maybe send some to your reporter friend. As a thank-you.”

"We really should, but what sort of setting?" Alisha smiled brightly at the thought, "I'd say something summery or maybe spring, a mix of elegant and just fun? We'll have to plan something special to send to Yasmine, though, she deserves something nice from us. We're going to really have to plan out our wedding... How big do we want it? I know my parents and a couple others for sure, but you know how celebrity weddings can get.. Out of hand."

"I think I can handle a big wedding," Jane answered as she finished getting out of her uniform. "My extended family is pretty big anyway. Plus friends from other ships, and friends from my racing days. I'm sure you have old friends from acting you might like to see at your Special Day. Plus we have lots of friends here on the Myogi. Not just Ami and Mia either. They've all become like family." She ran her fingers through her hair. "I really should shower. Can we keep talking though?"

"Of course!" Alisha beamed, getting up from the bed to follow her, "So probably a thousand people, maybe fifteen hundred?" She mused with a glint in her eye and a shit-eating grin on her face, "That should get most of the A-listers and a good chunk of the B-list and directors and really important people in the industry, along with some family members, diplomats and others who ask for an invite to one of the 'events of the year'."

Jane set the pitch of the sonic shower and let herself be cleansed of what was really three days of grime from her time on the Myogi-A. “For the public side of it, is that something we should just trust to an agent? We give the number of a thousand, save a hundred of those for family, friends, and crewmates, give them names of some celebrities we do want, some we don’t want, and let the professional do their job?” She grinned and made a come-hither gesture with her finger to Alisha. “You can never be too clean, luv.”

"Honestly? I only have about fifty people aside from our crewmates that I'd even want to have there." Alisha shook her head as she slipped off the robe she was wearing and joined Jane under the sonic waves, "I really want to invite Tiana Vellour, but it would only be to make her jealous of seeing me with you. Family and friends and the Director, of course, and we are barring anyone from Intelligence I think."

“Let’s come up with some lists and share them with each other in a couple of days,” Jane suggested, pulling Alisha in for a kiss. “I have some people in mind.” She grinned as a fun idea came to her head. “One table with some of my old racing friends. But sharing the table is Anise Halaat. Remember her?”

Alisha grinned as she remembered back to both the Academy and then a comm call back before... Well, while she was on Gamma Zednor, "Maybe we should bring her in a day or two early so we can surprise her with a little get together? I could even make myself up like her to say hello?" Her eyes brightened at the memory of having disguised herself that way.

“I think her brain would completely fry, the poor thing!” Jane said with a laugh.

Alisha gave Jane an excited kiss, "It'll be epic, I promise!" Her eyes glittered, "But We can keep this pretty small overall, "Director Nakajima and Producer Yamashito for sure, a couple of my fellow actors on the Voltron project, some others."

“We’ll need to write these down,” Jane suggested. “I’ll reserve the holodeck tomorrow evening for an engagement photo shoot. Something outdoorsy, summery, and light. Oh, can you get my back please?” Jane turned to face away from Alisha. “And I want to schedule calls with your parents and my mum. Maybe for right after we’re done taking pictures, so we can share the news while looking elegant and graceful.”

"Absolutely, so our best gowns will be kept for last, complete with corsages, refresh on the makeup, jewelry and the like." Alisha scrubbed down Jane's back, giving her butt a squeeze as she got down that far, "Can't wait to see you all dolled up for this."

Jane squealed as her butt was squeezed and laughed. “I will be the prettiest princess you’ve ever seen, Alisha Starr Reno. People will see the pictures we give Yasmine and wonder how far I am on the British line of succession.” She turned around and crossed her arms behind Alisha’s neck. “It’s pretty far, I checked as part of a school project,” she added, giggling.

Alisha looked up at her and rose on her toes to give Jane a kiss on the nose, "I'll make you the envy of the Royal line, tiara, the whole shebang of jewelry and the most perfect makeup you could possibly imagine. The gown? How long of a train do you want?"

“Long enough that we’ll need servants to carry it!” Jane decreed with a laugh. “Seriously though I want fancy but not crazy. I’ve trusted you and your fashion sense ever since our first date, luv.”

"Just because I lived in the fashion world and kept an eye on what was happening out there?" Alisha asked, "I can handle fancy, I'll put something together in my extra time when Mia isn't blowing me out of space in simulations. You know how she is, easy to convince to lay off at any time, so I'll have something gorgeous put together in no time."

“I look forward to it,” Jane said. “And as in all things, I’ll trust myself in your capable hands. Speaking of which…” she added with a smirk and a waggle of her eyebrows.

Alisha laughed as she ran hands up and down Jane's back, "I think I can do something about that."

"I'm sure you can..." Jane said, closing her eyes and sighing at Alisha's delicate touch.
